Medford’s Mystic River Celebration Returns for Another Year of Artistic Brilliance

The annual Mystic River Celebration will take place on Saturday, September 23 from 12-4pm at the Condon Shell. The festival will include a wide variety of musicians, artisans, and local businesses and will pay tribute to the beauty of the Mystic River.

A Glimpse into the Celebration's Origins

The Mystic River Celebration emerged in 2011 by CACHE, an arts and culture organization within Medford, as a way to bring arts and culture together into the community.

Musical and Artistic Highlights for 2023

The 2023 festival will include live performances by musician Zion Rodman, dance group Guardians of Isadora Dancers, musician Lekha and Friends, Medford’s Poet Laureate Vijaya Sundaram, musician Brothers McCann, Tufts Bhangra Dance Troop, and Medford band Three at Home.

Local Artisans and Culinary Delights

Over 20 local artisan vendors will be selling their handmade artwork ranging from jewelry to pottery to paintings. Food vendors will include CB Scoops, Chicken and Rice Guys, and Reunion BBQ. The festival will also include local nonprofits to promote the ongoing impactful work to cultivate a strong community within Medford and the greater Boston area.

Engaging the Community in Art

The Mystic River Celebration will also incorporate a community art project in which residents contribute to the arts and culture scene of the city.

The Pulse of Medford’s Community

“I love how [the festival] brings the community together,” said Laura Brereton, CACHE Programs Director, “People are happy and excited. It's a reminder of how much creativity and how many interesting people and organizations are here in Medford. It’s great to see everyone and shine a light on all things good in the community!”

Acknowledging Pillars of Support

Brereton also acknowledged that Medford businesses and corporations have been instrumental in boosting the creative economy. She noted Brookline Bank and Tufts University as great community partners and hopes to continue to provide more arts and culture events with their support.
